West Ham confirm signing of Fredericks

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Ryan Fredericks.

The Hammersmith-born 25-year-old, who is out of contract, played a key role in Fulham’s promotion-winning campaign.

He was offered a new deal by Fulham but opted for a move to the London Stadium, where he has agreed a four-year contract.

Fredericks, who started his career at Tottenham and made his senior debut during a loan spell at Brentford, joined Fulham from Bristol City in 2015.

He made 114 appearances for the Whites, with 48 of them coming last season. His final game was the play-off final triumph against Aston Villa at Wembley.

Fredericks is West Ham’s first signing since their appointment of former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini as manager.

“It’s amazing for this deal to finally happen,” Fredericks told the Hammers’ website.

“West Ham United is one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

“Everyone knows the history of West Ham and there’s a lot of factors that brought me to the club.

“Obviously, it’s an exciting time for West Ham. The club have just brought in a new manager in Manuel Pellegrini and everyone knows his CV and what he has done in England before and in other leagues as well. I’m sure I can learn a lot from him.

“It just felt like, for the next step of my career, I would be best suited coming here.”
