Manager Jol defiant ahead of Stoke clash

Under-fire Fulham manager Martin Jol says he has been given no indication that his future is under review – and has again urged disgruntled fans to get behind the team.

Fulham have not won in the league since the opening-day victory at Sunderland and currently languish in the bottom three on just four points from their first six games.

Jol was jeered by supporters after they were beaten at home by Cardiff last week but is determined to turn things around.

“My future hasn’t been discussed with the club,” said the Dutchman, whose team host Stoke City on Saturday.

“I haven’t spoken to the owner Mr Khan but I speak on a daily basis with the board and especially the chief executive. He has an office next to mine so we talk about football and business every day.

“We need the support of our supporters. It’s not about me, it’s about the team and the club, and they should get behind the team.

“They don’t have to support me but they should support the team.”

Jol added: “I’m strong and eager to do well. I want to battle and get us out of this situation. I’m ready to battle for 38 games.”
