Fulham make Southampton an offer for Targett

Fulham have made Southampton an offer for Matt Targett.

The left-back, 22, made a big impact for the Whites after joining them on loan in January.

He played a major role in helping Fulham win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs and has indicated that he would like to stay at Craven Cottage.

Targett has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular at Southampton, having made 27 league appearances for the south-coast club.

He played 18 times in the Championship for Fulham last season.

Fulham are also keen to sign Chelsea duo Lucas Piazon and Tomas Kalas on permanent deals along with Brighton’s Oliver Norwood and Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Like Targett, all four impressed while on loan at Fulham last season, with Mitrovic’s 12 goals in 17 appearances making all the difference in the club’s quest for a return to the top flight.
