Fulham v Newcastle player ratings

Rodrigo Muniz’s equaliser earned Fulham a point against Newcastle after a dramatic finish to the game at Craven Cottage. Here’s how we rated each Whites player in the 1-1 draw.

Bernd Leno: 7

Saved from Harvey Barnes’s near-post flick after 19 minutes. Then blocked a clean-through Barnes with his head on 32 minutes and kept out Lewis Hall’s weak late effort. No chance with Jacob Murphy’s stunner.

Timothy Castagne: 6

Solid enough. Headed Alex Iwobi’s corner at Lukas Hornicek just before going off after 77 minutes.

David Affengruber: 6

A steady afternoon for the most part. Newcastle’s best chances came from balls in behind rather than through the middle.

Calvin Bassey: 6

Captained the side. Jacob Murphy got away from him and Antonee Robinson before scoring, but otherwise he dealt with what came his way.

Antonee Robinson: 6

Had Murphy marshalling him all afternoon, which limited his attacking influence. Was beaten by the winger for the Newcastle goal.

Sander Berge: 6

Went inches wide with a sweetly struck effort from the edge of the box after 56 minutes, and went down under Dan Burn’s challenge with a penalty shout turned down. But his loose pass in midfield led to Murphy’s opener.

Shea Charles: 6

Tidy in possession as Fulham dominated territory without unlocking Newcastle’s back five.

Oscar Bobb: 7

Fulham’s best player in the first half. Forced a strong save from Hornicek with a curler after 12 minutes and had another shot blocked. Replaced by Ryan Sessegnon after 77 minutes.

Josh King: 6

Marked his England call-up by becoming the first teenager to make 50 Premier League appearances for Fulham. Forced a save with a sweet volley after 37 minutes and narrowly missed with a header just before the break. Faded after half-time and was replaced after 72 minutes.

Alex Iwobi: 6

Provided the cross for King’s volley and his near-miss header, and threaded Cesar Palacios through late on. His corner also set up Castagne’s header.

Gonzalo García: 5

Should have scored when he was unmarked at the back post after 14 minutes but lifted his header onto the roof of the net. He’s still without a league goal since the opening weekend. Spent the rest of the afternoon chasing lost causes against Burn and Malick Thiaw before going off after 65 minutes.

Rodrigo Muniz: 7

Made his presence felt immediately and equalised three minutes after Murphy’s goal with an intelligent reverse finish. Won the free-kick that got Amar Dedic booked late on.

César Palacios: 5

A frustrating cameo, with an overhit reverse pass and a run that Thiaw read well. Redeemed himself by sending in the ball that led to Muniz’s equaliser.

Kenny Tete: 6

Came on for Castagne after 77 minutes and saw the game out without problems.

Ryan Sessegnon: 6

Back from a three-match ban. Set Muniz away to win a late free-kick and almost won it in stoppage time with a rocketing half-volley that drew a spectacular save from Hornicek.
