Ream backs Fulham keeper Button

Tim Ream insists Fulham’s defence has every confidence in goalkeeper David Button.

Former Brentford keeper Button was dropped for the final six games of last season and the play-off semi-final games against Reading, having come under fire from supporters for some of his performances.

But he returned to the starting line-up in Saturday’s Championship opener against Norwich, after Marcus Bettinelli tweaked a hamstring, and made several good saves before being beaten late on by Nelson Oliveira’s equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

Ream, who played in front of both Button and Bettinelli last season, said: “We’re confident with whoever’s back there.

“Both have their strong points and we know how each keeper likes to play. Their communication is top notch.

“We knew coming into Saturday’s match what was happening and it’s a case of the next guy up. Nobody skips a beat and we just get on with it.”
