Transfer gossip: Sky reckon Bowler deal is close

QPR and Everton are close to an agreement over Josh Bowler, Sky Sports News HQ say.

The two clubs remain in talks over the possible sale of the 18-year-old winger, who has made one first-team appearance.

Rangers have turned down two previous offers from Everton for Bowler, who has rejected a new contract at Loftus Road.

Forest want QPR duo, Times reckon

Nottingham Forest want QPR duo Jake Bidwell and Massimo Luongo, according to The Times.

Bidwell previously played under Forest boss Mark Warburton at Brentford and there has been speculation that he could move to the City Ground.

The Times say Forest are keen to sign both Bidwell and Luongo this summer.

Christie touted for move

Derby defender Cyrus Christie has been inked with QPR, London Football News reports.

Reports the Republic of Ireland international could be allowed to leave Pride Park led to him being linked with a move to Loftus Road.

Fryatt linked

QPR are among Championship clubs being linked with striker Matty Fryatt, the Ipswich Star reports.

Ipswich and Fryatt’s former club Hull City are also said to be interested in the 31-year-old, who is being released by Nottingham Forest.

R’s keen on Ruddock, reports claim

QPR have been linked with Luton Town midfielder Pelly Ruddock, reports Bedfordshire News.

Nottingham Forest are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old, who was previously at West Ham, where he made one first-team appearance.

City youngster linked

Manchester City youngster Bersant Celina is another player to be linked with QPR, London Football News reports.

It comes after the Manchester Evening News reported that City are lining the 20-year-old midfielder up for a loan move to the Championship.

That has led to speculation that Rangers might be interested.

Ameobi also linked

Sammy Ameobi has also been linked with QPR, London Football News reports. 

It comes after the 25-year-old was released by Newcastle and is therefore available on a free transfer.

Nottingham Forest and Bolton are also said to be interested in snapping up Ameobi this summer.

Thomas snubbed QPR, it’s claimed

Kent Live reckon Charlton defender Terell Thomas has snubbed a move to QPR.

It is claimed that Rangers want the 19-year-old, whose contract expires this summer. Thomas is set to join Wigan Athletic, Kent Live say.

Woking, Stevenage, Hibernian and Chesterfield are also reported to have made him offers.

QPR linked with Italian defender

QPR have been linked with Perugia defender Salvatore Monaco.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, whose father Gianni was a recruitment adviser to QPR during Gianni Paladini’s time as chairman, claims the club are keen to sign Monaco.

The Naples-born 24-year-old centre-back is out of contract this summer and his representatives have contacted a number of clubs about his potential availability.

Cotterill linked too

Birmingham City’s Wales international winger David Cotterill is the latest player to be linked with QPR.

Wales Online suggest the R’s and Derby County are interested in signing the 29-year-old on a free transfer.

Rangers want Angel, Mail reckon

QPR are interested in Real Zaragoza striker Angel, the Mail say.

It comes after Rangers scouts watched Real Zaragoza’s game against Girona on Sunday.

It is claimed that they were there to watch Angel and are keen to sign the 30-year-old.

Aston Villa, Hull and Reading are also said to have shown an interest in Angel, whose contract expires this summer.

Article leads to Washington reports

The Birmingham Mail have picked up on reports claiming Conor Washington could be a target for Birmingham City.

It comes after the fans’ website Vital Birmingham City published an article posing the question of whether the QPR striker might make a good signing for the Midlands club, which led to Get West London linking Washington with a potential move to St Andrews.

McLean linked after Penrice watches game

The Daily Express reckon QPR are considering a £1m move for Aberdeen midfielder Kenny McLean.

It comes after R’s scouting chief Gary Penrice and his assistant Kevin Reeves were recently at Ibrox to watch Glasgow Rangers play Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

It also comes as McLean’s representatives are looking to negotiate a deal for the 25-year-old Scotland international, whose contract is due to expire next year.

He is one of a host of players north of the border that Scottish media have linked with QPR in the last year or so.

Smithies asked about rumours

Alex Smithies has spoken to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner about online rumours he could return to Huddersfield if they win promotion to the top flight.

Huddersfield will face Reading in the Championship play-off final and one of the many transfer-gossip websites recently claimed QPR goalkeeper Smithies could rejoin the Terriers if they go up.

Smithies, who left Huddersfield to join the R’s in 2015, recently signed a new contract at Loftus Road.

Asked if a return could happen at some point in the future, Smithies said: “I don’t know. It’s hard to say isn’t it.

“I don’t know anything about the rumours but it is my club and in the long-term future who knows what’s going to happen?

“Right now I’m happy at QPR and I’ve got three years left on my contract so I’m in no rush to get out.”
