Mount a doubt for Chelsea’s Club World Cup semi-final

Chelsea might be without Mason Mount for the Club World Cup semi-final against Al-Hilal.

Mount was taken off after picking up a knock during Saturday’s FA Cup game against Plymouth.

He travelled with the squad but will be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s match in Abu Dhabi before a decision is taken on whether he is fit enough to be involved.

Reece James also travelled with the squad but is not yet ready to play after a hamstring injury.

“Mason is getting better and better every day,” said Chelsea assistant coach Zsolt Low.

“We’ll see how he moves and feels today and take the last decision tomorrow.”

Low was speaking at a pre-match press conference in the absence of Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, who did not travel as he is isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.
