Mixed injury news for Chelsea ahead of West Ham clash
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has failed to recover from injury in time for Saturday’s derby against West Ham but Ashley Cole is in the squad.
Torres is nursing the thigh problem he picked up in training prior to the international break and is still unable to train fully.
Cole, however, appears to be available for selection despite aggravating a recent rib injury while playing for England against Germany this week.
The full-back has been left out for the Blues’ last two matches but could return at Upton Park, where boss Jose Mourinho expects his team to be given a tough test.
“I think everybody knows it will be a difficult match for us,” said Mourinho.
“It always was in my time and I think continues to be a tough match there, so we have to be at the top of our game if we want a result.
“The Premier League is showing week after week that every team has conditions to give a hard time to even the top teams.”
