Lampard praises Mendy after Chelsea debut

Frank Lampard praised Edouard Mendy after the goalkeeper’s Chelsea debut.

The Blues bowed out of the Carabao Cup, losing on penalties against rivals Tottenham.

But boss Lampard was pleased with the performance of Mendy, who misjudged one cross but otherwise looked assured.

“I thought he was very good. He made a couple of very good saves – one was a particularly good save,” said Lampard.

“He came and caught a few balls. Even the one he comes for and doesn’t catch, the idea that he wants to and be positive is not a bad thing.

“Great. I’m very pleased with every part of his game.”
