Lampard: Hard work starts now for Gilmour

Frank Lampard says Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has taken the rave reviews he received this week in his stride.

The Scottish teenager was widely lauded for an outstanding display in the midweek FA Cup win against Liverpool.

But Blues boss Lampard says Gilmour remains level-headed.

“He’s been the same. I’m sure he enjoyed it – he should do, his family were here for the game,” Lampard said.

“Knowing Billy, even at a young age he’s a very determined young lad. I think he’s very smart and I think he’ll understand that it was a really good game for him but the hard work starts now.

“I think he should enjoy the moment. I’m delighted for him. But in terms of how I’ve seen him around the place: same attitude, same training, same ethic, same quality. So all good.”

Midfielder Gilmour could keep his place for Sunday’s Premier League game at home to Everton.

Chelsea are without the injured N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic as well as the suspended Jorginho.
