Joao Pedro and Colwill to be assessed ahead of Chelsea’s final game
Chelsea remain hopeful that both Joao Pedro and Levi Colwill will be fit for Sunday’s final match of the Premier League season, away at Sunderland.
The forward and defender were both left out of the squad for the midweek victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge to manage their fitness following recent injury lay-offs.
Joao Pedro has been nursing a slight knock, while Colwill was rested after recently returning to action following a long-term knee injury.
Both players trained on Friday morning and will be assessed ahead of the game.
“They both trained today,” interim boss Calum McFarlane said.
“We’ve still got another day to see, but both are promising, both hopeful that they’ll be fit for Sunday.”
Chelsea end the campaign looking to secure a European place – as are Sunderland.
Captain Reece James is back in contention for a starting spot after being on the bench against Spurs.
