James and Colwill could feature for Chelsea against Forest
Reece James and Levi Colwill could be involved in Chelsea’s game against Nottingham Forest on Monday.
Blues interim boss Calum McFarlane has confirmed that both defenders are looking “promising” ahead of the match at Stamford Bridge.
Club captain James has been plagued by injury problems this season and has not featured since mid March, while Colwill has been out with a toe injury.
However, both have trained his week as they step up their recoveries.
“Reece is back in training, Levi’s back in training,” McFarlane said.
“Both are looking good. They are a little bit away from the game, so we will see how they do day by day, but both are looking promising.
“We are taking it day by day. Obviously Levi has had a long injury and Reece had a really good run and has been injured again.
“There are a lot of games still to play, so we don’t want to push too much, but we’re taking it day by day and hopefully they come through.
“I’m not ruling out either of them. They could be involved in the squad.”
James is on the verge of a significant milestone, with his next league appearance set to be his 200th for Chelsea.
Despite his injury frustrations, McFarlane praised the 24-year-old’s influence behind the scenes during his time in charge.
“Reece has been brilliant from the day I stepped up in January,” McFarlane added.
“Even though he’s still young, he is massively experienced. He has won major tournaments, he loves the club and he cares about the club, so he is driving and pushing standards every day.”
