Giroud set to sign new Chelsea contract

Chelsea look set to extend Olivier Giroud’s contract by another year.

The striker’s current deal at Stamford Bridge expires this summer but the club hold an option to extend it by 12 months.

Giroud, 32, has been linked with a return to his native France and had indicated that he was keen to move on in order to get more game time.

He has scored 10 Europa League goals for Chelsea this season but has started just 13 Premier League matches since being signed from Arsenal in January last year.

However, he nevertheless looks set to stay with the club.
