Speculation over Hudson-Odoi’s future continues
Some of the stories in Saturday’s newspapers involving Chelsea…
There continues to be speculation over the future of Callum Hudson-Odoi despite the transfer window having closed.
The Chelsea youngster, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires next year, handed in a transfer request in order to try to force a move to Bayern Munich.
Chelsea resisted, but The Sun say the club face another battle to keep him in the summer.
The newspaper declare that Hudson-Odoi was “devastated” not to have got the move to Bayern he wanted and that the German club will again pursue him when the transfer window reopens.
The Sun also say Bayern will offer Chelsea £25m and that the Blues could be tempted to accept as they would lose him for only a compensation fee were he to leave after seeing out the final year of his contract.
Meanwhile, there is also speculation over the position of boss Maurizio Sarri following Chelsea’s recent slump.
The Sun declare that Sarri fears for his future at the Bridge.
The story is based on comments made by the Italian at a press conference on Friday.
He said: My job is always at risk — and I love my job for that reason. I thrive on pressure.
“I know very well the rules. You can beat Man City, but three days later you are at risk.”
The Guardian and the Daily Mail report that Sarri also said he would stick with his tactics and style of play, insisting it is Chelsea’s players who must change.
