Chelsea complain to Uefa about racist abuse of Hudson-Odoi in Kiev

Chelsea have lodged a complaint with Uefa over racist abuse aimed at Callum Hudson-Odoi during last week’s Europa League game Dynamo Kiev.

Hudson-Odoi is understood to have been subjected to monkey chants from a group of home fans in Ukraine, where he scored in a 5-0 win for Chelsea.

The 18-year-old told Blues captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who reported it to the referee.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck and club secretary David Barnard also reported it to the Uefa delegate for the match.

“We can confirm a report of racist abuse directed at one of our players in the final minutes of the match in Kiev from a small section of home supporters,” a Chelsea statement read.

“We wholeheartedly condemn such abhorrent behaviour. The matter was reported to the referee at the final whistle and the chairman and club secretary spoke to the Uefa match delegate immediately after the match.

“We expect Uefa to conduct a fulsome investigation and we will provide full cooperation.”
