Chelsea trio will miss Ajax clash

N’Golo Kante and Ross Barkley will miss Chelsea’s Champions League match against Ajax along with Antonio Rudiger.

Barkley went off with an ankle injury during Saturday’s 1-0 win against Newcastle – a game Kante missed because of a groin injury picked up while on international duty with France.

Neither midfielder trained on Tuesday but Rudiger and Emerson Palmieri did take part in the session.

Rudiger did not travel to the Netherlands afterwards as he is not fully fit, but Emerson is in the squad.

Rudiger has made just one appearance this season. The German defender returned after a knee injury for the game at Wolves last month but was substituted at half-time because of a groin problem.

Emerson, meanwhile, has been struggling with a hamstring problem, as has Andreas Christsensen, who is expected to be out for two weeks.

  • Chelsea means life and life after death to me. Anything that will make us win is good and vice versa.

  • Truly amazing, to see Frank Lampard doing a great job. I wish him the best and the rest of Chelsea players.
