Speculation over Cavani’s future and Chelsea are linked with Gosens

Edinson Cavani is in the headlines ahead of a possible move to Chelsea.
Blues boss Frank Lampard recently indicated that the club could try to land the Uruguay striker, who has asked to leave Paris St-Germain.
The Times and the Daily Mail report that Chelsea have made an approach to take Cavani, 32, on loan for the rest of the season.
Both newspapers say Chelsea would pay Cavani’s wages – reported to be £360,000 a week – and a loan fee of around £5m.
The Guardian suggest Chelsea could well miss out to Atletico Madrid, who have had an £8.5m bid rejected according to reports in Spain.
Cavani’s father has said that the player would favour a move to the Spanish club if a deal can be agreed.
“He wants to join another club in Europe,” Luis Cavani is quoted as saying.
“That would please me that he plays here [at Atletico]. [Diego] Simeone wants him now.
“I think there is a strong chance that he will go to Atletico. The option to join the club Atletico always remains in June.
“There are lots of other clubs but when you give your word to a team, you respect it. If tomorrow, if he is available and Atletico still want him, I think he will sign.”
Cavani’s mother has also had her say on the situation.
The Sun declare that Lampard “faces the mother of all battles” to sign him after his mum Berta Gomez said: “He wants to play for Atletico and if not now, in the summer.”
The Daily Telegraph declare that Chelsea are “involved in a stand-off” with PSG, who would reportedly prefer to sell Cavani rather than loan him out – and apparently value him at £12.6m.
Meanwhile, the Daily Express say Chelsea want a top-class goalkeeper compete with Kepa Arrizabalaga and are planning a £20m move for Atalanta left-back Robin Gosens.
And a transfer window wouldn’t be a transfer window without Chelsea being linked with Real Madrid’s Isco.
The Daily Star have picked up on reports in Spain claiming that Chelsea have held talks with Real and are desperate to sign the midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge numerous times in the past.
