Delap could return in Chelsea cup tie

Liam Delap could return for Chelsea as early as next week.

The summer signing has been out since suffering a hamstring injury against Fulham in August.

Head coach Enzo Maresca revealed last week that Delap was closing in on a return to the squad.

And Maresca suggested on Friday morning that return could come in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie at Wolves.

“He can be available,” Maresca said ahead of Saturday’s home game against Sunderland.

“Liam took part in the (training) session yesterday with the team for the first time. He is not going to be available for tomorrow but probably for the next one.”
