Deal agreed for Kovacic to join City

Chelsea and Manchester City have agreed a fee for Mateo Kovacic.

The Croatia international, 29, is set to join the Premier League champions for £25m.

The news comes as fellow midfielder N’Golo Kante departs Stamford Bridge for Saudi Arabaian side Al-Ittihad.

Kovacic joined Chelsea from Real Madrid 2019, initially on loan, before his move to west London was made permanent.

He made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season and is one of several players expected to be shipped out this summer.

New head coach Mauricio Pochettino is keen to revamp the squad following his appointment.

Uncertainty remains over the future of Mason Mount, who is entering the final year of his Chelsea contract and has not agreed a new deal.

Manchester United are looking to tie up a deal to sign the England midfielder, while Kai Havertz looks likely to join Arsenal and AC Milan want Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
