Caicedo not ready to return for Chelsea against Hull

Moises Caicedo will miss Chelsea’s Premier League match against Hull City, with manager Xabi Alonso giving no guarantee over the midfielder’s availability for the following game against Brentford either.

The Ecuador international has been sidelined since suffering a recurrence of a calf problem during a 14-minute substitute appearance against Brighton.

He has since missed Chelsea’s defeat at Arsenal and their Carabao Cup win over Leeds, and will sit out Saturday’s game against Hull as well.

Alonso has previously admitted that rushing Caicedo back for the Brighton game was a mistake, and is keen not to repeat it.

“Not yet,” said Alonso on Caicedo’s fitness. “Let’s see for Brentford, but it’s not the moment to take the risk with him. Not yet.”

Jordan Henderson, Emmanuel Emegha and Marco Palestra are also unavailable this weekend.

Meanwhile, Chelsea winger Pedro Neto has signed a new six-year contract.
