Rodgers unwilling to sell Celtic keeper after Chelsea are linked

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted his club would not be willing to sell Craig Gordon after the goalkeeper was linked with a potential move to Chelsea.

Scotland international Gordon, who previously played for Sunderland, is one of a number of keepers to have been touted as a possible replacement for Asmir Begovic.

Bournemouth want to sign Begovic but Chelsea are unwilling to allow him to leave before bringing in another back-up keeper to act as cover for Thibaut Courtois.

Gordon’s contract expires at the end of the season and former Chelsea coach Rodgers says he would be reluctant to let him leave before then.

Asked at a press conference on Thursday about reports of Chelsea’s interest in Gordon, Rodgers said: “If it is the case then of course we don’t want to sell. It is not something we would consider really.”

Meanwhile, Zenit St Petersburg have expressed an interest in signing Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
