Schade ‘will become even better’

Thomas Frank heaped praise on Brentford forward Kevin Schade following his side’s 4-3 win against Manchester United – and believes the German will be even beter next season.

Schade, 23, scored twice against United to earn Brentford a third consecutive victory as they moved into the top half of the Premier League table.

He now has 10 goals in what has been by far his most productive campaign in west London.

Bees boss Frank said: “He’s grown a lot this season. Scoring 10 goals – not many players have scored 10 goals in the Premier League in their career – and he’ll most likely become even better next year. That’s the plan.

“With his pace going in behind, his threat in the box on headers – two fantastic headers [against United], the first one is an incredible header, the second one is just top class – but also if we go longer he’s one that can win a flick-on and, with set pieces in both boxes, he’s working hard.”

Yoane Wissa also found the net against United to register his 18th league goal of the season – drawing him level with Bryan Mbeumo as Brentford’s top scorer.

The Bees’ free-scoring forward line has been key to their push for a place in next season’s Europa Conference League, as they now sit just a point off a potential qualification spot.

“To have three players that have scored 10 goals or more – 46 between the front three is an unbelievable number of goals,” Frank said.

“To have that in any club is incredible but for us to have it is a big achievement and I think we’re the only club this year that’s managed to do it.

“I’m very proud of the three players, their team-mates who are producing the assists, and the staff.”
