Transfer gossip: Speculation over futures of Brentford duo

West Ham are refusing to match Brentford’s asking price for Said Benrahma, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Hammers boss David Moyes has long been keen on Benrahma and the east London club are expected to make an offer for the winger following their sale of Grady Diangana.

Brentford want at least £20m for Benrahma, who was outstanding in the Championship last season.

But the Telegraph say West Ham will not pay that despite reportedly banking £18m from the selling Diangana to West Brom.

Meanwhile, a number of newspapers have picked up on Football Insider claiming that Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Brentford striker Ollie Watkins.

Top-flight clubs are keen on Watkins and Benrahma

Villa’s former Bees boss Dean Smith is among the managers keen to land Watkins, who is also wanted by Fulham, West Brom and Crystal Palace.

Apparently a “recruitment source” has told Football Insider that Villa are ready to pay Brentford more than £20m - and Watkins more than triple his current salary.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said on Friday the club would only part with Watkins and Benrahma "for the right price" and that his other players were not for sale.
