Transfer gossip: Bees said to be hopeful of Eriksen deal

Some of the latest transfer speculation involving Brentford…

Brentford are hopeful of beating off competition from other clubs to sign Christian Eriksen, The Times reports.

The former Tottenham midfielder is a free agent after leaving Inter Milan, who cancelled his contract because he is not permitted to play in the Italian top flight with a pacemaker he had fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark at Euro 2020.

Brentford, who have strong Danish connections, have held talks with Eriksen with a view to signing him on a contract until the end of the season.

The Times say other Premier League clubs have made approaches, with Newcastle and Leicester said to be among them.

Forest ‘want £18m for Johnson’

Brentford are £3m short of Nottingham Forest’s valuation of Brennan Johnson in their attempts to sign the winger, the Daily Mail say.

The Bees have indicated they are willing to pay £15m for Johnson, who has long been a transfer target.

But the Mail say Forest want at least £18m for him as well as 15% of any future sell-on fee.
