Brentford hold talks with Eriksen and are keen on Hickey

Brentford have held talks with Christian Eriksen and want Scottish left-back Aaron Hickey.

Former Tottenham midfielder Eriksen, 29, had his contract cancelled by Inter Milan last month after being told he could not play in the Italian top flight after being fitted with a pacemaker.

This would not prevent him from playing in the Premier League – and Brentford are among several clubs to have shown an interest. They have discussed signing the Dane on a contract to the end of the season.

Eriksen had the pacemaker fitted after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing for Denmark against Finland at Euro 2020 last June.

He has not played since then and is looking for a new club.

Brentford have strong Danish connections and head coach Thomas Frank previously worked with Eriksen in the national youth-team set-up.

Hickey, 19, attracted interest from several clubs before joining Italian side Bologna from Hearts in September 2020.
And Brentford are now discussing a potential deal to bring him to west London.
The Bees have been keen to sign a left-sided player because of a lack of cover for Rico Henry, who was recently out injured.
Hickey can also operate in midfield or on the right.
