Boss Frank savours superb Bees victory

Brentford: Thomas Frank
Thomas Frank savoured Brentford’s thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday – but said it was their improved defending which pleased him most.

The Bees were superb in their 5-0 victory at Griffin Park and moved up to fourth in the Championship.

They were excellent going forward but boss Frank was even happier with the improvement at the back.

“We have a lot of things we’ve been working on,” Frank explained.

“Brentford Football Club and this team, last year but also this season, we knew we would be an offensive threat going forward and could play some fantastic football.

“But we knew one of the biggest things was the side to defend – that mentality.

“We came to February and we definitely conceded more soft goals, strange goals, individual errors.

“The big headline today was the side to defend. If we can do that then we know we can be fine. There were some fantastic blocks there. We got a foot in.

“That’s the biggest thing for me – and then of course the way we want to play going forward.”

Frank also enjoyed a cracking strike by Emiliano Marcondes – his first goal for the club.

“I was so, so happy when I saw that ball go into the back of the net,” said Frank.

“He’s been fighting for so long at this club to give the best impression of himself.”
