Andrews hails Sangare after outstanding Brentford debut

Keith Andrews hailed Ibrahim Sangare after the midfielder’s superb debut for Brentford.

The Bees’ record signing was outstanding as they kicked off the season in brilliant fashion, crushing Tottenham 3-0 in a one-sided London derby.

Keane Lewis-Potter and Vitaly Janelt scored first-half goals and Michael Kayode added a third, before Igor Thiago missed a penalty.

And Sangare’s performance suggested he will make a major impact in the Premier League.

“More of the same from him, hopefully,” head coach Andrews said.

“It’s been nice working with him. The club deserve a lot of credit for getting that deal done, because he could have gone elsewhere

“He adds to the quality in midfield that we already have. I really enjoyed his performance. He’s a humble young man who looks very hungry.”

Brentford, tipped by many to struggle a year ago, when Andrews had taken over as head coach from Thomas Frank, defied the odds and challenged for a European place.

And after their emphatic win over Spurs, which followed an excellent pre-season, they look well set for another successful campaign.

“It’s pretty impressive on a lot of fronts,” said Andrews. “You never truly know from pre-season what you’re going to get, but I felt like we were in a good spot – and we produced a pretty good performance.”
