Chelsea and QPR continue to be active in the transfer market and George Groves is on course for another world title shot after returning to action with a convincing victory.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of American defender Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls, while Blues striker Patrick Bamford has joined Norwich on loan for the rest of the season.

The Blues’ Under-18 side lost to Reading on Saturday afternoon – their first defeat in 16 matches.

QPR have agreed a fee with Burton for Nasser El Khayati. Burton confirmed the news on Saturday afternoon after West London Sport revealed that an offer for the Dutch forward had been accepted.

But Rangers now look unlikely to sign Marco Motta after discussing a short-term deal for the Italian right-back following his recent trial.

Meanwhile, QPR have formally confirmed the departure of Steve Gallen, who has been axed after 19 years on the club’s coaching staff, and have extended midfielder Michael Doughty’s loan spell at Swindon for the rest of the season.

Moussa Dembele is close to completing a move to Tottenham from Fulham for around £5m.

But Brentford’s Alan Judge does not expect to be on the move before Monday’s transfer deadline – the Irishman has said he will be staying at Griffin Park.

In boxing, Groves stopped Andrea Di Luisa in the fifth round of their super-middleweight clash at the Copper Box Arena.

On the undercard, another west Londoner, Deion Jumah, won on his British professional debut, beating Colin Farricker on points in a six-round light-heavyweight bout.
