Gallen’s exit confirmed by QPR

QPR coach Steve Gallen

QPR have formally confirmed the departure of Steve Gallen.

Gallen, who spent 19 years on the coaching staff at Rangers, was placed on gardening leave soon after the appointment of manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who has installed his own backroom team.

West London Sport revealed in December that Gallen’s future was in doubt.

Gallen’s most recent role was that of first-team coach. He previously held a number of youth-coaching roles and managed the Under-18 and Under-21 teams at the club before being promoted last summer to work with the first team.

Rangers announced Gallen’s departure on Saturday morning and say they tried to find him another role.

“QPR would like to thank Steve for his incredible passion, commitment and enthusiasm throughout his time at the club, and wish him every success in the future,” the club said in a statement.
