Striker departs QPR for America

Loftus Road

Striker Tyler Blackwood has left QPR to sign for Arizona United in the United States.

It is the London-born 24-year-old’s second spell in America, having played for Tampa Spartans, South Florida Bulls and Orlando City Under-23s while on a football scholarship.

He returned to England last year and had a trial at Loftus Road, before signing a professional contract in August.

Blackwood played just 26 minutes in a Rangers shirt, making his debut as a substitute in the League Cup win at Yeovil, before coming on in the closing stages of the Championship defeat at Derby in November.

He had a loan spell at Newport County, scoring once in three appearances, but has now linked up with former QPR player and coach Marc Bircham, who is assistant coach at USL Western Conference side Arizona.
