Injured Torres set to undergo knee scan

Chelsea forward Fernando Torres is set to undergo a scan after suffering a knee injury during the Champions League win against Steaua Bucharest.

Torres went off in the 11th minute and the Blues are hoping the problem does not turn out to be serious.

They recently suffered a setback with news that midfielder Marco van Ginkel faces a long spell out with anterior cruciate ligament damage.

And boss Jose Mourinho would be left short of strikers if Torres is ruled out of action.

“I thought it was an ankle. I was surprised when I saw at half-time the problem was his knee,” Mourinho told Sky.

“Tomorrow we will have scans and see what happens. But I hope it is not a Van Ginkel situation.”
