Chelsea got their Champions League campaign back on track in emphatic fashion. Here’s how we rated the players in their 4-0 victory in Romania.

Petr Cech: 6
Another easy evening for the big keeper. Produced a couple of decent saves but his biggest concern was when he back-pedalled into the post when tipping over a rare shot.

Branislav Ivanovic: 8
Very effective at both ends of the pitch. Supported the attack throughout and was an important physical presence at the back.

David Luiz: 7
Less flamboyant than normal. Still almost caught out a couple of times when trying to nip in front of defenders, but also provided some excellent cover for his full-backs.

John Terry: 8
Rock solid. Looks to have his mojo back. Revelling in the first-choice centre-half tag. His organisation was outstanding and his use of the ball excellent.

Ashley Cole: 7
Some fine touches in possession and countless clever sways, dummies and shimmies created space time and time again. Such a bright footballer and always available in attack.

Ramires: 9
Two immaculately taken goals and a tireless display all round. Won his tackles and plenty more. Dominated the midfield.

Frank Lampard: 8
Took his goal with a fine low shot after a typically smart run to the edge of the box. Another selfless display. Used the ball speedily and cleverly. Allowed others to play.

Juan Mata: 8
Barely wasted possession and although not as showy as he can be, it was exactly the sort of ruthlessly efficient display boss Jose Mourinho has been demanding. Probably should have scored when he hit the post.

Oscar: 6
A poor first half by his exceptional standards when he was casual in possession and made too many wrong decisions. But much better after the interval. Great skill to tee up Mata for his shot that hit the post.

Andre Schurrle: 9
His best game in a Chelsea shirt by some distance. Did not always find a telling final ball but caused no end of problems and showed good awareness and trickery and had the sense to stay out wide and isolate his man.

Samuel Eto’o: 6
Sharp enough when setting up the first goal – albeit with a miskick in the end – and a confident run set up the second. Encouraging, but still not looking a patch on the player who was clearly among the best strikers, if not the best striker, in Europe a couple of years ago.
