Tottenham could consider Sanchez appeal

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino plans to view video footage of Davinson Sanchez’s sending-off at Watford before deciding whether to appeal against the red card.

The Colombian defender is facing an automatic three-match ban after he was adjudged to have elbowed Watford’s Richarlison in the face during Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

With Toby Alderweireld sidelined by injury, a suspension for Sanchez would leave Spurs short on defensive options as they approach the busy Christmas period.

“I don’t know if it was (a red card offence) or not – it was difficult to see,” said Pochettino. “But of course we are going to watch now.

“Players are saying it wasn’t his intention, but maybe he touched the player with his arm and then it is the referee’s interpretation.

“We are going to have time to analyse in private. It changes nothing – what happened happened.”
