Mauricio Pochettino hopes Tottenham’s “massive” victory over Borussia Dortmund has buried their Wembley curse once and for all.

The Spurs boss insisted the 3-1 opening Champions League win was worth more than just the three points because it proved they can deliver at their temporary home.

“It was a massive win and a massive performance,” he said. “I hope it can change the perception for the future and build confidence to play at Wembley.

“It’s difficult to explain what it means but I hope it stops the talk about the hoodoo and everything. It’s been one year (since it began).

“It was a very difficult game. Dortmund are a fantastic team and they dominated the game. It’s so important for us to get the three points against them.

“It was only one game but I am so happy with all the players and the new signings. We need time to learn and improve. This is massive for our confidence.”

Pochettino also heaped praise on Harry Kane after the striker scored twice following Heung-Min Son’s opener.

“All the players played well but Harry Kane was fantastic. You can see how he is becoming one of the best strikers in the world,” Pochettino said.

“I am so happy with Serge Aurier, with Fernando Llorente and all the new signings – and the whole squad.”
