Marco Silva: Watford could have had two penalties against Tottenham

Watford boss Marco Silva felt his side might have been awarded two penalties in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Vicarage Road.

Hornets winger Richarlison had a penalty appeal turned down shortly before Tottenham’s equaliser, as well as supplying a cross that Eric Dier appeared to handle in the dying seconds of the game.

However, Silva had no doubt that referee Martin Atkinson made the correct call to send off Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez early in the second half for elbowing Richarlison.

“For me it was clear – at that moment he stopped Richarlison with the arm in his face,” said Silva. “Maybe if he doesn’t put the arm in the face it is a yellow card.

“With Richarlison earlier in the game, I have some doubts, but it’s not an easy decision for the referee.

“And in the last minute Eric Dier, maybe he doesn’t want to play the ball – it looks a penalty. But course I respect the referee’s decisions.”
