Which Sports Betting Markets Are Growing Fastest in 2026?

Match winner, totals and handicaps still account for a large share of sportsbook activity. The fastest growth is happening elsewhere.
Player props now sit beside traditional team markets in far greater numbers. Same-game parlays are taking a larger share of NBA betting. Live markets are moving into shorter windows, sometimes covering a single possession or pitch. Prediction markets have added another format around major sports.
That wider menu is visible on vippari, where pre-match and live betting sit alongside more detailed player and event markets. The older markets remain important. What has changed is how much can now be priced inside one game.
Player props are changing the shape of a game page
The NBA provides one of the clearest examples.
At one major U.S. sportsbook, same-game parlays accounted for about 41% of NBA handle during the 2024–25 season. Player statistics were central to many of those combinations.
The effect is easy to see on a market list. One player may have a points line. Another market can cover rebounds. Assists receive their own price. The final score is only one layer.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup produced a similar shift toward combined bets. Data from a major sportsbook technology provider showed Bet Builder wagers reaching 35% of all bets across its network. That was double the 2022 share.
The difference was larger once matches had started. Live Bet Builder represented 3% of in-play bets in 2022. In 2026, it reached 22%.
WNBA betting added another example. Major U.S. operators reported higher activity on the league, with player props growing faster than overall handle.
The common point is not the sport. It is the amount of betting now attached to individual performance rather than only the team result.
Live betting is moving into shorter windows
An industry estimate published after Q2 2026 put in-play wagering at around 57% of U.S. sportsbook handle.
That figure is not a complete count of every operator. It is better read as a market estimate. Even with that limitation, live betting is no longer a secondary part of the sportsbook.
Micro-betting pushes the idea further. The market may cover the next pitch. In another sport, it may last for one possession or one play. One forecast puts annual growth in the category at roughly 17%.
The time frame is the important difference. A full-match market can stay available for hours before the event begins. A micro-market may disappear almost immediately.
That makes mobile access more relevant, since the vippari indir page lets users follow live markets from a phone while prices can still change before the next meaningful break in play.
Live betting has therefore grown in two directions at once. More bets are being placed during games. Some of those markets also cover much smaller pieces of the action.
Prediction markets add a different type of sports volume
The NFL offers a useful measure of prediction-market growth.
Industry research estimates that prediction markets could account for about 21% of combined NFL wagering-equivalent activity this season. That includes roughly $8.4 billion in prediction-market “handle analog,” compared with $31.7 billion in conventional sportsbook handle.
The figures are not directly comparable because trading volume and sportsbook handle are measured differently.
NFL activity has still been heavy. In some September samples, combo contracts represented more than half of prediction-market trading. One major operator also reported September volume at almost 2.5 times its July level.
The base is smaller than conventional sports betting. The rate of change is not.
Growth is coming from smaller parts of the game
Traditional markets are not disappearing. Most of the new activity is forming around smaller parts of the same event:
- player props turn individual statistics into separate markets;
- live betting prices short periods of play;
- Bet Builders combine several selections;
- prediction markets add another trading format.
Match winner, totals and handicaps still carry major volume. The newer markets are growing around them rather than replacing them.
The change is in what can now be priced. One player statistic may be enough. So can one possession or a short sequence of play.
