West London Could Send Over 20 Players to the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off in the United States, Mexico, and Canada this June, and West London is going to be well-represented.

Across Chelsea, Brentford, and Fulham, more than 20 players have been named in possible selection for their national teams in North America. Actual squad submission closes on the 11th of May, so final selections are just weeks away.

But still. Think about that for a moment. A small corner of London is going to contribute this many players to a cup featuring 48 nations. It’s remarkable to consider that just three Premier League teams are able to do that.

Who Could Be Going to the World Cup

West London’s three Premier League clubs could be sending 10 different nationalities to the World Cup.

Here’s a breakdown of who could be going:

  • Cole Palmer (England/Chelsea)
  • Enzo Fernandez (Argentina/Chelsea)
  • Alejandro Garnacho (Argentina/Chelsea)
  • Pedro Neto (Portugal/Chelsea)
  • Dario Essugo (Portugal/Chelsea)
  • Estevao (Brazil/Chelsea)
  • Andrey Santos (Brazil/Chelsea)
  • Joao Pedro (Brazil/Chelsea)
  • Nicolas Jackson (Senegal/Chelsea)
  • Gaga Slonina (USA/Chelsea)
  • Caleb Wiley (USA/Chelsea)
  • Jordan Henderson (England/Brentford)
  • Kevin Schade (Germany/Brentford)
  • Aaron Hickey (Scotland/Brentford)
  • Igor Thiago (Brazil/Brentford)
  • Julian Eyestone (USA/Brentford)
  • Antonee Robinson (USA/Fulham)
  • Timothy Castagne (Belgium/Fulham)
  • Tom Cairney (Scotland/Fulham)
  • Issa Diop (Morocco/Fulham)

What This Means for West London Clubs

Having so many players at a World Cup brings a lot of benefits to West London.

The first is global exposure. A World Cup is one of the most-watched events on the planet. Every time a West London player appears on screen, their club badge appears alongside them. For clubs like Brentford and Fulham, who are still building global brands, that’s the kind of visibility they need.

Adding to this are more commercial opportunities. Increased visibility brings increased sponsorship interest. Several clubs already have high-value entertainment deals, like Crystal Palace and West Ham. A strong World Cup performance from West London players could present more opportunities for the clubs nearby; whether it’s interest from an online slots UK platform offering 100s of games or something else, both could benefit a team massively.

Lastly, recruitment opportunities will rise massively. Players who perform well don’t just look good themselves, but they make their home teams look good as well. A player choosing whether to join a club or not may consider who performed well in the World Cup to gauge the club’s training capabilities.

What Comes Next

Final squads are due by the 11th of May, so every remaining Premier League fixture carries extra weight for players in West London teams.

However, we’re curious which of the 20 will be selected. We already have a good idea of who, but sometimes, we’re surprised.

That being said, it’ll only be the best of the best due to the nature of the competition. We can’t imagine any country will send a player who hasn’t been in form this season, unless someone is injured.

Regardless of what happens, however, West London, that small part of a big city, will be represented well on the world stage this summer.
