Chelsea made a confident start but West Brom got men behind the ball and managed to keep them at bay in the opening 20 minutes.

The visitors did manage to create an early half-chance when Samuel Eto’o pulled the ball back towards Oscar, who was unable to connect.

With Chelsea skipper John Terry still out and Frank Lampard on the bench, keeper Petr Cech was handed the captain’s armband.

Fernando Torres, fit again after a knee problem, is among the Blues substitutes.

A win at The Hawthorns would take Chelsea four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
