Sanderson’s versatility will help QPR, says Warburton

QPR boss Mark Warburton says Dion Sanderson was signed largely because of his versatility.

The defender has joined Rangers on loan until the end of the season from Wolves, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Birmingham.

He will face stiff conmpetition for a place in the starting 11, with Yoann Barbet, Rob Dickie and Jimmy Dunne all fit, and with Jordy De Wijs returning from injury.

But Warburton stressed that his team needed more cover in that area of the pitch.

“You saw the game here when he played on the left side, the game over Christmas he played on the right side,” Warburton said.

“He’s got pace and power, good physicality, good size, he uses the ball very well, has good decision making.

“He plays it inside nice and tidily but can switch it effortlessly as well.

“We needed to have that quality and that depth to add to the squad, so I’m delighted to get him on board.”

Warburton hopes to also bring in an attacking player ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
