Season 2026/27: Predictions for the West London Teams
West London’s three Premier League football clubs will head into the 2026/27 season eager to give their respective fanbases something to cheer about.
Based on the ante-post betting markets, Chelsea are the club most likely to end the upcoming campaign by winning the title.
They are rated as 11/1 shots by the top sportsbooks on Best Betting Bonuses – a useful bet to use their bwin bonus on for Chelsea fans – while Fulham (400/1) and Brentford (500/1) are given little chance of claiming top spot.
With Queens Park Rangers not expected to be in contention for the Championship title, fans in the western part of England’s capital could endure a tough season.
With that in mind, read on as we preview the season ahead for the aforementioned quartet, starting with Chelsea.
Chelsea
Chelsea are on a redemption mission under manager Xabi Alonso after enduring a thoroughly underwhelming 2025/26 campaign.
The Blues finished tenth in the standings to miss out on European qualification. After years of heavy investment, that outcome was embarrassing.
Having inherited a talented but unbalanced squad, Alonso desperately needs to stamp his authority on the club during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, and he would bring some much-needed craft to their engine room.
The club also needs to sign a proven goalscorer, while the addition of an experienced centre-back wouldn’t go amiss.
Alonso must also resolve Enzo Fernandez’s future following his ill-advised dalliance with La Liga giants Real Madrid earlier this year.
If Chelsea make the right moves this summer, Alonso could use their absence from European competitions to fire them back up the Premier League.
Prediction: Top four finish.
Brentford
Brentford defied expectations last season, with Keith Andrews proving to be a worthy replacement for previous manager Thomas Frank.
Andrews guided the Bees to a ninth-placed finish, but repeating the feat may prove to be tricky in his second season in charge.
Brentford desperately need additional firepower, with the team far too reliant on Brazilian striker Igor Thiago last season.
The Bees have been linked with a move for Burnley attacker Jaidon Anthony, but he does not leap off the page as a player they should be entertaining.
West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville would be a more viable option, although persuading him to join the club will not be easy.
Brentford have finished in the top half of the table in three of their five seasons in the Premier League and will be keen to enhance that record this term.
However, with several clubs who finished around them last season expected to improve, they may struggle to avoid dropping into the bottom half.
Prediction: 11-13th in the Premier League.
Fulham
Fulham have finished 10th, 13th, 11th and 11th since winning promotion back to the top flight, but may struggle to kick on this time around.
With Marco Silva leaving the club to join Benfica, Fulham have appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as their new manager. The former Madrid boss is a risky appointment, according to Football Today.
He showed nothing during his short stint in charge of Los Blancos to suggest he is up to the task of managing in the Premier League.
Fulham have been linked with Rico Lewis, Marcus Tavernier and Chibuike Nwaiwu, but they may not fit into the new manager’s plans for the club.
Harry Wilson’s decision to leave the club as a free agent has left a creative hole in the squad, while Raul Jimenez’s experience will be missed.
Fulham bear all the hallmarks of a club who could be dragged towards to relegation zone after four seasons of relative stability.
Arbeloa has a major task on his hands to build on the work done by Silva and this could be a tough campaign for the Cottagers.
Prediction: 16th in the Premier League.
Queens Park Rangers
QPR briefly flirted with the Championship play-off places last season before their form tailed off during the second half of the season.
They undoubtedly showed signs of promise under manager Julien Stephan and it will be intriguing to see what he can achieve in his second full season at the club.
With several exciting young players going into their second or third seasons at Championship level, QPR could be genuine contenders for the play-offs.
Expanding the post-season shoot-out to six teams should help QPR’s cause, particularly if they strengthen their squad this summer.
The addition of Boy Kemper from NAC Breda boosts the club’s defensive options and he should prove to be an extremely shrewd acquisition.
A new goalkeeper, right-back and midfield reinforcements are the primary targets the club need to address before the transfer window closes.
Winning automatic promotion is unlikely to happen, but QPR should be capable of challenging to finish in the top eight.
Prediction: 8th in the Championship.
