Real Would Like to Sign Mason Mount

Mason Mount is one of the most brilliant players of the decade. The 22-year-old English midfielder has spent his entire professional career with Chelsea and was capped for the Three Lions for Euro 2020. His performance with the Blues has apparently put him on several major international teams’ radar. Signing him would be like hitting a jackpot at the top online casino Thailand has to offer.

Among the contenders competing for the young player, there is the Spanish team Real Madrid. Apparently, the club’s plans to revive the “galácticos” era include signing the 22-year-old English midfielder. Spanish sports portal Fichajes.net heard that the Spanish club is prepared to pay a considerable amount for the player – the portal speculates that the amount may rise as high as 80 million euros or 67 million pounds.

Who is Mason Mount

Mason Mount has played football since a very early age, first in his native Portsmouth. At the age of 4, he spent one day each week training with Portsmouth and Chelsea. Ultimately, he joined Chelsea’s youth academy in 2005, at the age of 6.

Upon turning 18, Mount graduated from the Young Blues and joined the older ones. At this time, he was already an accomplished player at a youth level, having won two FA Youth Cups, the UEFA Youth League, and Chelsea Academy Player of the Year by 2017. His first years at Chelsea were actually spent away from Stamford Bridge – he spent a season on loan with Eredivisie club Vitesse, followed by another one with Championship club Derby County. He returned to Chelsea in 2019 – and it was his time to shine. He became the first Chelsea Academy graduate to appear in 50 matches in his debut year.

In the 2020-2021 season, Mount became the Premier League Academy Graduate of the Year and the Chelsea Player of the Year.

Non-transferable?

But Real might not be able to sign Mason Mount for the time being. The Spanish team plans to reinforce its midfield next summer, considering that Luka Modric, along with other staple players in this position, is getting closer to the end of his playing days.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano considers Mount to be non-transferable at this point. Mount is, apparently, on Chelsea’s “renew list” – his contract that expires in 2024 is set to be renegotiated soon. Some even think that Mount will be an integral part of Chelsea’s lineup for the next decade or so, with others considering him a likely candidate for captaincy.
