QPR’s Smithies offer ‘is a good deal’
Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has told BBC Radio Leeds he believes his club have struck “a good deal” with QPR for Alex Smithies.
The 25-year-old goalkeeper underwent a medical on Tuesday and could complete a move to Loftus Road in the next 48 hours.
“We negotiated hard to get an offer close to £2m,” said Hoyle.
“We think that for a goalkeeper who we have never had a bid for in the past, and who is one of our top earners, it is a good deal.
“If Alex’s deal goes through, we need to make sure that we use the money to make us a better team.”
Smithies made his Huddersfield debut aged 17 and has made a total of 274 appearances for the Yorkshire side.
