Cardiff and Hull chiefs have got it wrong, says QPR chairman Fernandes
QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has said he is keen to avoid the kind of acrimony caused by the rebranding of Cardiff City and Hull City.
Cardiff owner Vincent Tan upset Bluebirds fans by changing the team’s home colour from blue to red, while Hull supremo Assem Allam has caused anger by seeking to change the club’s name to Hull Tigers.
In an interview with Reuters, Fernandes said: “I take a different approach to life. I like to talk to my fans, I like to get their feedback.
“I don’t think we have had a single fan against our [stadium] move, because we have managed it differently.
“I am in the pub with the fans, I am in the stands with the fans. Although they may not physically own the club, the fans are part of the club. Without them there is no club, so I think their views have to be taken into consideration.
“I’d love to change (the kit) to red but we bought a club that’s blue, so we’ll stick with blue.
“I think QPR is a unique name but it’s like buying Harrods, why do you want to change it?”

Tony Fernandes is a top bloke and proving to be a tremendous chairman. The best thing to happen for QPR since big Les Ferdinand was banging them in during our early Prem days!

I applaud the recognition of the Club’s colours etc but what is it with this urge everyone has to change kits to red? I know TF is Malaysian and it’s a Malaysian thing but he grew up and lived in London from about 9 years old so he is as much an Anglophile as anyone else who grew up here.
