Plenty more to come from Chelsea’s Palmer – Terriers boss

Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner is confident Chelsea loan signing Kasey Palmer can improve on his matchwinning debut performance.

The Blues midfielder scored within 30 seconds of coming off the bench to earn the Championship side a 2-1 victory over Brentford on the opening day of the season.

Wagner, who has Palmer on a deal until the end of the campaign, said: “I said go and enjoy the game and I think he enjoyed it.

“He is a talent. He is not as fit as he has to be to play week in week out in the Championship but we will work with him.”

Palmer has yet to make his full Blues debut but has been one of the standout performers in Chelsea’s impressive youth team.

Wagner expects Palmer to make the grade and build on his promising youngster status.

“We are happy that we have this young, intelligent and open-minded player with us,” Wagner added.

“Kasey did a great job when he came on. He has a good future in the game if he continues to work hard.”

Palmer described his as an “unbelievable moment”.

“I won’t ever forget it,” Palmer said. “It’s crazy. When it went in I didn’t really know what to do. There are no words to describe it.”
