Man City’s Kompany dismisses Chelsea’s penalty claim
Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany dismissed suggestions that Chelsea should have been awarded a late penalty in the FA Cup semi-final.
Fernando Torres had his shirt tugged by Kompany in the closing stages of City’s 2-1 victory at Wembley.
But Kompany told ITV: “I thought it was great defending. I put my body in the way and did everything I could.”
Goals from Samir Nasri and Sergio Aguero put City in command before Demba Ba halved their lead midway through the second half.
“For a while it was too comfortable and it [Ba’s goal] was a wake-up call,” said Kompany.
“You never know what can happen, but I thought in the end we defended really well.
“This was an important game and the most important game is the final against Wigan, which we’re all looking forward to.”
