London Born Players in the English Squad

England qualified for the quarter-finals after beating Slovakia 2-1 in a dramatic comeback in stoppage time. Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, a London-born, scored the late goals to give the English team a much-needed victory.

Kane isn’t the only London-born star in the England Squad. Various notable names hail from different sides of the capital, and we’ll review them below. Read on to see if your club star is on the list.

Declan Rice

Starting us off is Declan Rice, hailing from the Southern parts of London. The defensive midfielder plays for Arsenal, which is also a London club. Additionally, he is a protege of Chelsea Academy and was previously West Ham’s captain before he moved to the Gunners.

The star has been pivotal for Gareth Southgate, providing excellent assistance to Jude Bellingham in the midfield. True to that, Jude’s overhead kick was a difference maker for Betway sportsbet fans and the English team.

Conor Gallagher

Conor Gallagher is another influential midfielder for the England squad. Together with Declan Rice, he’s greatly contributing to England’s great defence. He comes from Epsom, an area in central parts of Southern London.

Gallagher played for Chelsea and was initially on loan at Crystal Palace, another London team. Rumours of a transfer from the Blues are circulating. Therefore, his performance in Euros 2024 might determine his new team.

Joe Gomez

Joe Gomez has been improving since his comeback from injury with Liverpool. The versatile defender was born in the Catford area but has, interestingly, only played for the Reds his entire pro career. His only stint in London was as a loanee player at Charlton United between 2014 and 2015.

Eberchi Eze

Eberechi Eze is a rising star in the England squad who was born in Greenwich, a town in South-East London. He plays for the London-based team Crystal Palace, and his recent performance earned him another international call-up. Additionally, his great output for the club was pivotal for Betway bettors.

Eze can be handy if matches get to a penalty shootout. He’s among the most elite spot kick takers, including Harry Kane, Ivan Toney, Bukayo Saka, and Cole Palmer.

Ezri Konsa

Ezri Konsa, a Newham native, is another newcomer to the England squad. He will make his first start against Switzerland in the quarter-finals after the suspension of the outstanding Marc Guehi.

Konsa was excellent this past English season, helping his team finish in the top four. Betway fans can now catch him in the Champions League in the upcoming 24/25 season.

Bukayo Saka

Last on the list is Arsenal man Bukayo Saka. He hails from a small town in London, Ealing. Saka is amongst the top performers in the Euros for England and has made a strong case for the right-wing position. However, he’s versatile and was recently switched to left-back during the knockout match against Slovakia.

Undoubtedly, London is a hub for England superstars. They are in the lead to bring the Euros home and will partner with other top stars from different regions. The Three Lions will face Switzerland, with the likes of Granit Xhaka. Stay tuned to see how everything unfolds.
