Latest: Watford 0 QPR 0

Matt Phillips had a thunderous drive pushed over by Watford goalkeeper Manuel Almunia as QPR made a lively start to the second half at Vicarage Road.

Rangers had most of the first-half possession and Niko Kranjcar, playing as a lone striker, fired inches wide of the target.

With Charlie Austin out with a hamstring injury, Kranjcar was handed an unfamiliar role while Yossi Benayoun was given a starting place in midfield.

The Croatian sent another effort wide and an early attempt well over the bar.

At the other end, Richard Dunne produced a superb last-ditch tackle to deny Diego Fabbrini as the Watford forward burst into the box, before Rob Green was able to gather Sean Murray’s deflected shot.

And Green was called into action again seven minutes after the restart, when Fabbrini shot straight at the R’s keeper from 10 yards.

QPR: Green, Simpson, Onuoha, Dunne, Assou-Ekotto, Barton, Carroll, Benayoun, Phillips, Hoilett, Kranjcar.
Subs: Murphy; Traore, Johnson, Henry, Zamora, O’Neil, Sendles-White.
