Jan Oblak – the final piece of the jigsaw for Lampard

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard

Touted as the future coach of Chelsea, some may argue that the appointment of Frank Lampard was early when the Chelsea all-time highest goal scorer was appointed the head of the Chelsea football club in June 2019. The ex-blue player had an illustrious playing career at Stamford Bridge his glittering career as a player.

He won three English Premier League titles, four FA Cup titles, four Community Shields, three carling cup, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Europa League, and one UEFA super cup. He further won so many illustrious individual honors with the club in playing time.

The biggest challenge awaits the incoming blue boss as the team lost their main man Eden Hazard, not a chance to sign the new player as the embargo on Chelsea as a team to sign a new player was ranging hard on the team. Moreover, the team hardly looks convincing under the former boss.

Chelsea had been tipped by many pundits and bookies not to make the top four in the current season, but proving the doubter wrong, Chelsea is currently sitting on the third position with 63points ahead of the Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs which were touted to make the top four ahead of the blues.

Despite the lack of signing and losing convincingly to Manchester United in their opening match of the season, the Stamford bridge team can look back and say “we did it”.

Losing your best player without replacement can have a huge hole in your team and having a coach with little or no experience in topflight football can make the team fan lose an interest in his team playing continental football the following season.

Against all odds, Chelsea is flying high the blue colour in the sky and not just flying high in the current campaign, the manager is building future prospect of the machine to taste the success he once had with the club.

Encouraging the youth, while giving the likes of Fikayo Tomori, Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Recce James, Emerson, the time to showcase and express their talent mixing them with an established player like Christian Pulisic, Rudiger, Azpilicueta and Kepa Arizbalaga and the veteran with the like of Pedro Rodriguez, William, Olivier Giroud, etc. the team could well have established themselves as a force to reckon with.

However, with the recent acquisition of Hakeem Ziyech, Time Werner, Kai Hervertz; Chelsea is building an attacking machine that could break any stubborn defence. Despite the insurgence of Pulisic later this season, the spark of creativity the blues is building against next season should be a budding of concern for the English giant clubs.

No doubt that the arrival of the 3 aces will improve the Blue’s performance a lot allowing fans to bet correctly when placing a bet on Chelsea.

More importantly, the rate at which Chelsea is conceding goals cannot be overemphasized, despite their constant threat at the other of the pitch, the goal conceding of the blues had been the sole factor of their inconsistency this tenure of footballing season. With the Lionel Messi of the goalkeepers (Jan Oblak) as the team custodian, the team can have the confidence to attack even more.

Chelsea bidding for Oblak is not a merry of having the best goalkeeper in the world, but the masterpiece of the attacking machine that Lampard is building for Chelsea.

Many can argue how the Chelsea goalkeeping department had been below par this season. With Kepa have one-fourth save of the shot faced could only reference how under par that department had affected Chelsea’s progress this season.

Super Frank enjoyed success at Stamford Bridge, not because the team ordinarily outscore their opponent, but because there was super Cech at the goal post saving the team from unnecessary goal conceding.

With Oblak as the blue custodian, Frank Lampard understood the importance of leading your opponent with a goal. Chelsea had lost 18points in the league this season from goalkeeping and defensive error and when this is added to their current point; the blues is a title contender.

Chelsea might be buying the attacking geniuses, and keep running the show from midfield! The only reason the Frank Lampard team is not challenging for the title is mainly because of the defense which is spare headed by their goalkeeping department.

Having a goalkeeper that reminisce the boss of the Stamford Bridge of how good Petr Cech was is not such a bad idea. But in reality, it is the masterpiece that can make Chelsea football club whole again. With Jan Oblak; Chelsea is having a rainbow that beautifies their blue sky.
