Harrison to take on Price in Liverpool

Audley Harrison will challenge unbeaten heavyweight prospect David Price for the British and Commonwealth titles at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on 13 October.

West London Sport revealed in May that Price’s promoter Frank Maloney was considering Harrison as an opponent for his protégé.

It will be the Merseysider’s first defence of the belts and a chance for former Olympic champion Harrison, 40, to repair his reputation.

Harrison, from Harlesden, won gold in 2000 but has been much criticised during a professional career that has included five defeats – the most recent being in a one-sided world title challenge against David Haye in November 2010.

The heavy-handed Price, on the other hand, has established himself as a hugely promising and popular fighter since winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics four years ago.

He has won all 13 of his pro bouts – 11 by knockout – and has seen off his last five opponents in the first four rounds.
