Half-time: Yeovil 0 QPR 2

Sebastian Polter and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas opened their QPR accounts to put Rangers on course for the second round of the League Cup.

The two goals came in the space of four minutes, the first stemming from an error by Yeovil’s on-loan Fulham defender Stephen Arthurworrey.

The 20-year-old allowed a ball to drop and he was outmuscled by Polter who then stabbed the ball over the advancing keeper Artur Krysiak.

Moments later, QPR doubled their lead when Cole Kpekawa, making his senior debut, beat Connor Roberts on the left and sent over a cross which Emmmanuel-Thomas converted.

The first 15 minutes passed without incident, Yeovil’s Iffy Allen firing over the bar early on.

Rangers almost had a third late in the half when Polter got his head to a Matt Phillips corner but Matt Dolan was well-placed to clear off the line, while Emmanuel-Thomas shot wide.

QPR made seven changes to the side which lost the Championship opener at Charlton on Saturday, with debuts for Grant Hall, Oscar Gobern and Ben Gladwin.

QPR: Green, Perch, Onuoha, Hall, Kpekawa, Phillips, Doughty, Gobern, Gladwin, Emmanuel-Thomas, Polter.
Subs: Lumley, Luongo, Chery, Konchesky, Hoilett, Henry, Blackwood.
